Mr. Montague, John's Stepfather, was involved in the sale of Retail Fireworks from then, John was involved since the 1960's and Alison since 1977.
Having already developed a passion for 'playing with fireworks' from a small boy, the firework section of the business had always dominated Johns interest, alongside the Gun Section, which ran well together. The arrival of his son, Jonathan on November 5th 1967 served him well with the perfect excuse to further developing his skills and knowledge in putting on a good show! The perfect timing of his son's arrival is something that he always strove to echo in each of his Professional Displays. To achieve that, an excellent knowledge of each and every firework was required and this he achieved through travelling the country to many different importers and viewing every single firework that we sell or use professionally." - John Paddon
Alison, John's daughter now heads up Whizzz Bang Retail & Whizzz Bang Mortars Professional Shows using the same ethos, skills & knowledge that her father taught her over her 45 years in the business.

Alison has grown up selling fireworks as a Saturday Girl since she was 11 years old, and of course has experienced years of Firework Parties as a child, watching the successes as well as the mistakes! Having ventured outside the family business to work, experiencing motherhood and a mature students life, Alison now armed with a BA (Honours) Degree heads up the family business.
Naturally, rolling up her sleeves getting behind the sales counter and refilling the stock in high season comes as second nature to her! Alison is also the delivering force to the many events that we now attend and organise and she achieved this along side building her own Bouncy Castle & Games Hire Business A&K Events Ltd which she has now sold on to concentrate on Whizzz Bang"

Sam Lovell, now promoted to Show Manager & a Fully Qualified Full Time Firefighter had 7 years experience working alongside John Paddon undertaking our Professional Shows. With the help of our firing team which now includes, Nathan, Byron, Mark, Christian (Grandson), Jonathon, John's son & Terry Funnell, John's firstborn grandson also a Fully Qualified Fireman, joined our Professional Display team followed by Kane Funnell, grandson 2 in 2017 who is has followed his brother in the Firebrigade! In 2016 we managed to drag Sammie Hicks, John's only Granddaughter kicking and screaming into the shop but since it's in her blood she now loves it and is a integral part of the shop and delivery team. In 2020 we were joined by Cheryne Shah who has proved herself a valuable crew member.
You can usually find one of the family at the shop any day in peak season.
Whizzz Bang Fireworks' ethos is highly unusual in the trade. We offer a comprehensive service which encompasses anything from an individual £6 single ignition firework or a £30 mixed selection box, to an unlimited budget purpose designed professional displays. Every client is offered a personal service, tailored to their individual requirements. As a business we will even come and survey your premises and advise you on health and safety requirements and insurance for public displays.
Year round we offer purpose designed self fire displays, a professional display service for a variety of functions including weddings, promotional evenings, birthday celebrations, religious occasions, corporate events, memorials/anniversaries, christenings and believe it or not funerals too! We hold probably the largest selection of fireworks for miles, buying from 6 different importers and offering over 9 ranges to choose from. We can even personalise your selection, design your display to a theme, or help you select a 'display in one' from our vast selection of Compound Fireworks & Displays in a box. We are well known for our services and have a well established customer base which stretches from Cornwall and Wales up to Manchester.
